I began tying flies at age nine over 50 years ago. I was self taught, and most of my first efforts were laughable failures. Some would say they still are! Over time, I have had the opportunity to spend many hours on the water observing and fishing for trout on tail waters, spring creeks, and still waters. This experience has been the genesis for my fly creations which have always been designed to hopefully trick even the most discerning of prey. I also have been affiliated with Whiting Farms as a member of its Pro Staff for many years, and enjoy promoting the “best feathers” in the business. As a retired educator, I am passionate about passing on knowledge and teaching the art of fly tying to interested folks, and especially have a soft spot for young kids who have the yearning to learn.
